The company Clarivate Analytics, a global leader in the provision of reliable analytical data to increase the pace of innovation, announced its list of likely winners of the Nobel prize - 2017 Citation Laureates.
Every year since 2002, experts Clarivate Analytics analyze millions of citations and references in WebofScience, identifying the leading researchers in the fields of physiology or medicine, physics and chemistry achievements which have shown the Nobel prize in the field of natural Sciences. The organization also compiles a list of probable winners of the award on the economy - since 1968, when the national Bank of Sweden established the prize in this area in memory of Alfred Nobel.
In the list of Citation Laureates include scientists and economists whose publications are so often cited by colleagues, and therefore are so influential, that gives reason to include them in the number of potential Nobel prize winners in the current year or in the future.
In 15 years, 43 scientists and the list of Citation Laureates were awarded this highest award.
A very likely "candidate" for the award in physics this year is the method of detection of gravitational waves arising from merging black holes - opening, predicted by Einstein more than a century ago. A potential Nobel prize in this case will Kip S. Thorne (Kip S. Thorne) from Caltech and Rainer Weiss (Rainer Weiss) from the Massachusetts Institute of technology, last year included in the list Clarivate Analytics Citation Laureates.
The list includes the names of many worthy and notable nominees. For the first time in the history of the number of Citation Laureates entered the Russian scientists. This year the list includes researchers from Denmark, Germany, Greece, India, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea and Taiwan, as well as their UK and USA.
"Analysis of incipient and strongly dependent on the cited scientific papers, Clarivate Analytics allows you to objectively determine the outstanding achievements in the research field, noted Jessica Turner (Jessica Turner), head of division of scientific and academic research Clarivate Analytics. - We are honored to recognize the achievements of scientists-innovators and we hope that inclusion on our list is no less a part for them. Our analysis adequately reflects the importance and influence of the contribution of the potential winners in the research activities already confirmed an extensive number of links colleagues for their scientific works and publications. However, our analysis reflects the importance and influence only the contribution that is confirmed by the references of potential laureates, their colleagues in the scientific community".
"This is our task - said Mr. W Turner. - We are integrating and carry out a careful analysis of the scientific and academic research to provide accurate and adequate review of research in the world."
